A big row is rearing its ugly head again in the Imo Transport Company (ITC) as workers in the corporation and the corporation’s management consultancy firm, Ginikana are at loggerheads.
The bone of contention is said to be distortions in payment of salaries.
Also, it was learnt that workers in the corporation have been unpaid for three months, as salaries for the month of March was received two weeks ago.
Trumpeta investigation reveal that since Ginikana took over the management of Corporation, those on level 7 now earn the salary of those on level 5. Others on other levels are said to be earning salaries not commensurate with their levels.
Also, the workers are said to be unhappy with the pattern of payment in the past, previously, workers collect their salaries from Diamond Bank, but the situation has changed as they receive pay face to face.
This is the second time in months workers of the corporation have engaged in serious altercations with the management consultancy firm since ITC was leased out by the Rescue Mission Administration.
Efforts by Trumpeta to speak to Emeka Duru, Chairmen/CEO, Ginikana was futile as he refused to respond several to phone calls. However, a source close to Ginikana said such stories are untrue and figment of the imagination of some workers.
