Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, Imo State Chapter, has backed the planned National Conference by the Federal Government. Speaking shortly after it’s meeting held in Owerri, Chairman of the body, Dr Emeka Ukaegbu said the meeting focused on modalities to be canvassed by the pan Igbo apex group for the National Dialogue the confab Advisory Committee is expected to visit Imo State on October 29th, 2013 .
Ukaegbu stressed that the people of the South East states can achieve much through the National Conference.
He added that the people of the Igbo speaking states should take advantage of the National conference.
Dr Ukaegbu revealed its terms reference, stressing that it will focus on the Name, Agenda, Funding, Participation and Outcome. He explained that the Name will be deliberated upon whether it should be sovereign or otherwise. According to him, the agenda will be subjected to deliberation whether it should be determined by the government or otherwise, so also the funding of the conference He maintained that no political party will determine the position of the Igbos or that of OhaNaEze Ndigbo, reiterating that this is an opportunity God has granted Ndigbo to speak out on the plight of their people.
