Champions Of Owere
Nshi-ise Unity Cup

The 2013 /maiden edition of Hon Okara Anukam Unity Football Competition for the five Villages that make up Owere nshi-ise came to its crescendo on Tuesday December 31 with Umuodu emerging champions of the three week tournament after beating Amawom 4 3 on penalties.
Addressing the crowd during the presentation of trophies, the donor of the cup Hon Okara Anukam called on the youths of Owere nshi-ise to always stay upright, hardworking and dedicated in all their endeavors stating that with football many young youths all over the world have not just become prominent but bread winners in their home.
Continuing, Hon Okara who wants to be identified with the slogan, “I know Okara” maintained that he was motivated to power the football tourney in other to foster unity, peace and progress among the five Villages in Owere nshi-ise adding that it was also to identify and promote the footballing talents in the Community.
The competition which had Hon Enerst Ibejiako (former House of Representative member) as the special guest saw the winners receive N200, 000, the runners up pocketed N150, 000 while N50, 000 each went to the joint third placed teams, Umuororonjo and Umuonyeche leaving Umuoyima the last team with the sum of N30, 000 and N10, 000 given to the best supporters club, Amawom and Umuodu.

Umuezee-nguru Agog For
Eze Iroegbu’s Cup Final
It was all fun and excitement as the final of the Eze Charles Iroegbu Unity Cup for all the six Villages in Umuezee-Nguru nwe ahia-ato took place on Wednesday January 1 at the playing field of Umuezee Central School.
The final event which had most Aboh-Mbaise political leaders gracing the final game such as Hon Anthony Atudume (the immediate past SOLAD Aboh-Mbaise), Chief Alan B Onyemaechi (SA to the Gov Okorocha on inter party affairs) and Chief Akujuobi (SA on security IMHA) saw Obokwu beat Umuosiocha 2 0 to emerge the maiden champions.
Presenting the trophy and medals to the winners, Hon Atudume described Eze Iroegbu (Ezie one of Umuezee) as a development driver who has followed in the footsteps of the Late icon, Nelson ‘Madiba’ Mandela especially with the enormous peace and unity that exists in his community.
He however advised the players especially the youths of Umuezee and Imo at large to emulate the life style Eze Iroegbu who has cued into footsteps of His Excellency Owelle Rochas Okoroch with the youth must work program enshrined into sports for the purpose of identifying and exposing talents as well as to maintain peace and unity.
Eze Iroegbu in his own speech enumerated some of the key developmental projects he has either attracted or piloted in the community stating the more of such programs should be expected as his people are in for the best of times.
Collaborating the promises of HRH, PA to Ezie one of Umuezee, Hon Frank maintained that doe he has stayed but a small time on the stool of leadership his achievements speaks volume about his capabilities.
The winner of the competition, Obokwu were later handed the sum of N50, 000 while N30, 000 and N20, 000 went to the second and third placed teams Umuosiocha and Umuaghara respectively.

Indigenes of Nkwerre Local Government Area on Friday January 3 had the best of football festivity as the people gathered en mass for the crescendo of the Hon Barr Prince Obinna Okwara Unity Football Competition which took place at the Eze Ugochukwu sports Complex.
In the final which attracted most footballing greats from Imo State, Onusa-Nkwerre got the better of Umukor via penalty shoot-out (5 – 4) to emerge champions of the tournament that started on the November 23 for the 10 INEC wards in Nkwerre LGA .
Addressing the crowd, Hon Obinna who incidentally is the House Minority Whip admonished Nkwere youths to always strive for the best in their entire endeavor adding that with discipline and total dedication as their watch word the sky will be their limit.
In his own reaction, Barr Rex Anunobi, a onetime executive Chairman of Nkwerre LGA and SA to Gov Ikedi Ohakim on political affaires described the tournament as the best organized football competition throughout the State while urging the players to always make the best use of such opportunities.
Also speaking, the coordinator of the championship, Mr Dike Chuks, praised the youth empowerment attributes of the honourable member representing Nkwerre State constituency stating that the level of play during the competition has shown that more of Kelechi Iheanacho are still bound in the State.
Onusa-Nkwerre after lifting the coveted trophy also pocketed the sum of N400, OOO, and Umukor who finished as runners-up took home N200, 000, while N50, 000 each was given to eight other teams that took part in the competition.
The event was however graced by Heartland fc Team Manager and Media Officer, Promise Nwachukwu and Cajethan Nkwopara alongside the ex-internationals such as Benzico Nwosu, Goddy Ekeh, Ray Ebede, Law Ukaegbu and many others.
