Archbishop Obinna Raises Alarm On 2015 Election, Seeks God Intervention

The Archbishop of Owerri Ecclesiastic Province, His Grace, Most Reverend Dr Anthony J V Obinna has tasked Christians to pray for God’s intervention as Nigeria approaches 2015 general elections.
The respected Clergy made this clarion call at his first Pastoral visit during the occasion of the formal inauguration of St Thomas Catholic Parish in Umuowa, Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, Imo State.
The Archbishop of Owerri Archdiocese urged the Catholic faithful to vote against tyranny by giving their votes only to Leaders with fear of God, and not those who will turn to tin gods after being voted into office, adding that the electorate should guard against election malpractices such as killing, snatching of ballot boxes, stealing in a bid to win elections etc.
He urged Christians to throw out politicians who performed bellow expectations as they did in the 2011 elections.
Speaking later, the Parish Priest of St Thomas Umuowa, Rev Philip Ojimanu expressed the excitement of the entire laity of the Parish in receiving the head of the Ecclesiastic Province of Owerri in their midst.
The Priest showered encomium on Bar Soronadi Njoku, Sir Malachy Onyeukwu, Sir Cornelius Okere, among others, for their various contributions to the successes recorded by the Parish.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Imo State, Dr TOE Ekechi was Chairman of the occasion. Also present were Transition Committee Chairman of Ngor Okpala LGA, Hon Ugochukwu Okere, Hon Henry Ekpe, Co-Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Trumpeta Newspaper, Captain Aloy Emegwa (rtd) Chairman Pastoral Council, Chief Val Okere (Amadioha Ngor Okpala), Lady Stella Achononu and others.
