Cause: We, men and women of goodwill stand by him, come rain, come sun. Mr. Ken Saro Wiwa, may his patriotic spirit rest in perfect peace, rose in defence and for the cause of his people, Wole Soyinka, postulated that the man dies that keeps mute in the face of tyranny, Prof. Awojobi of Unilag fame rose for the cause of good democratic tenets during the 2nd Republic, Chief Gani Fawehenmi stood for the down trodden of Nigeria, Chief Barr. Festus Keyamo Chief Femi Falana, Shehu Sani, Balarahe Musa, Adams Oshiemole spoke for the masses, citizen Ikenna Samuelon of Imo is doing his bits for good governance, academician claude Ake was the apostle and fore-runner of capacity building , Tai Solarin was noted, Dr. Martin Lutter King (Jnr), declared: I have a Dream for America, years upon years after Barak Obama came, Chief Obafemi Awolowo of the blessed memory had a big dream for the old Western Region on Education and strong institutional frame work, today the yields are better imagined than described; Dr. the Rt. Honourable Nnamdi Azikiwe, Zik of Africa and the Owelle of Onitsha postulated: show the light and let the people see the way. He fought, worked and died for the unity of Nigeria, Mandela of South Africa, our great Madiba, spent 27 years against Apartheid Regime of South Africa; Madam ANSAN SU CHI of Burma is doing her bits for Burmaise! What else can one make a reference to? Politics apart, sentiments apart, Ohaji/Egbema people deserve a 100% attention from whatever government be it APC, APGA, PDP, UPP, UCC, PAP or Carton Party. This writer is not disputing or ignoring government good intentions for this old rich kingdom that bakes the cake for the entire State and Nation. It is baffling that, that part of our dear State and Integral part of this Nation is staying in DARKNESS, in total Darkness begging the PHCN to give them light for the mere reason of being in debated Accumulated Nepa Bills. Who expects the Kelechi Mejuobis of this world to keep quiet?
Am sure Mr. Mejuobi is part and parcel of this Ohaji/Egbema and am not sure he can play politics or he can be induced by any body or party to demand for the bonafide Right of his people. I stand by Kelechi Mejuobi and all that he stands for. I stand by Ohaji/Egbema people in their peaceful, legitimate demand for their Rights. Something makes a hibernated snake in a cage to wriggle itself out in an angry mood. I have been reading Kelechi’s worries about the pains, agonies and the anguish of his people. Government is trying her best but should endeavour to urgently address all the strategic concerns of Ohaji/Egbema people by endeavouring to detach party sentiments rather Ohaji/Egbema apolitical concerns. I strongly believe that governments and parties, even regimes will come and go but Ohaji/Egbema with its solved and unsolved problems will remain. The people of Ohaji/Egbema will ever remember or damn any of her citizens that do not stand up when the needs arise.
The alleged balkanization of the accredited courses to the so called Orlu and Mbano campuses, the removal of the Umuokanne General Hospital, for the yet to be built Ultra Modern Nursing School, the scrapping of the Bureau for Niger Delta Affairs, the DARKNESS Wahala caused by non payment of NEPA Bills (accumulated), non completion of Obinze – Umuokanne et al roads (Trumpeta March 6, 2014 p. 10), the N400m Federal Government flood grant for Ohaji/Egbema, and sundry issues are the Mejuobis contant worries for his people. Kelechi Mejuobi will never worry about Iranian, Egyptian, Bornu, Mbano and Mbaitoli and Ikeduru problems but that of Ohaji/Egbema. No body should deny him that Right to fight for his people. I am neither from Ohaji nor from Egbema but from Mbaitoli L.G.A.
My grand father Uhuegbu – Duruchukwu who welcomed the district officer captain H.M Douglas in his residence at Duruegbuwa Amaukwu Orodo, trekked to Egbema to adjudicate customary cases; hence my love for Egbema. May I conclude by agreeing with Mr. Mejuobi that “As part of my prerogative to inform, exposing the theatre of absurdities rocking Imo Poly falls under my purview and I owe no one apologies except my conscience. If I compromise or fail to adopt professional ethics in the course of discharging my duties”.
May I appeal to our government to get into the business of addressing the overall concerns of the Ohaji/Egbema people who have laid down their lives, their Natural Resources for the betterment (Jf not only Imo State but for that of Nigeria and for the ECOWAS Subregion.
God bless Ohaji/Egbema and bless those who hate Kelechi Mejuobi.
