Mr-Ibu
Anywhere he is, he must be trusted for unquantifiable laughter and jokes. Popular Side is talking about John Okafor, (Mr Ibu) Mr Ibu was in his usual character on Wednesday May 28, 2014 at the newly opened International Conference Centre Owerri. Ibu acted in a manner that made him steal the show at the event. Though it could be a comic-relief for the audience considering the mood at the event when the ovation meant for the Governor Okorocha was stolen by Mr Ibu who came moments before the Chief Executive of the state was officially ushered in. While those behind the microphone were announcing the arrival of the governor and requested the audience to stand up and be ready to receive Okorocha, Mr Ibu spotting a denim jean and T-shirt emerged from nowhere to be accorded first class ovation and reception apparently reserved for the Owelle Ndigbo. His presence and entry jolted the crowd who roared in ecstasy about Mr Ibu’s presence. Even the MC who was disturbed about the contrast in personality quickly announced that “this is not Okorocha” to ensure that the undue recognition accorded him ceased. However, few minutes later, the governor entered but was not heralded by the expected tumultuous cheers experienced during Mr Ibu’s arrival. In apparent bid to appreciate the popularity of artistes around, Okorocha later promised to make available the sum of N100m to revive the movie industry in Imo. But busy bodies who were worried started murmuring why the governor would make the promise of N100m when his former Chief Comedian and SA on Entertainment, Uche Ogbuagu ,dumped Rescue Mission because of suspicion of paucity of fund in the entertainment sector in the governor’s office, even as the Bongo centre has remained a shadow of itself since it was established.
