A socio-critic and youth crusader Professor Uzoma Nathan Protus has in a statement said that the youths must be involved in whatever democratic process that would emerge in 2015 general election, as any candidate irrespective of party affiliation that neglect the youth will be opposed.
Prof. Uzoma Nathan who stated this during a press conference with newsmen in Owerri recently, added that it is necessary for any society that wants to grow to believe in the principles of dynamism, to enable the youths participate in decisions that affects them, pointing-out that the problem with any society that do not want to see to the welfare of their youth will dwindle in crisis.
The Prof. noted that for youths to be fully inclined with the political formation of our democracy, every political aspirant irrespective of the party should pick a youth as running mate, stressing that support for any candidate by political elder/elites without proper consultation of the youths will be opposed.
He observed that the youth’s hunger was informed by artificial scarcity and bad leadership that breaks their conscience during electioneering process, adding that some graduates in our society are qualified to earn the number one position for Imo State, but are yet to be gainfully employed because some political elites/elders who have both political and financial power have consistently taken decisions for the youth since independence and inception of democracy with a continued neglect of the youth in matters that directly affects their future.
He revealed that the youth constitute a higher population that out numbers the entire voting class in electioneering process and would one day in the true practice of democracy, over throw the pillars that holds the principle of equity been talked about which will bridge the gap between Government and the Governed.
Prof. Protus Nathan Uzoma charged youth groups at the various zones of Imo State to come in alliance for a common goal ahead of 2015, adding that to ensure youth participation in governance, youth of the three zones of Imo State must support the motion for all aspirants to pick a youth as their running mate.
