Reactions have continued to trail the alleged imposition of candidates by Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Mmadumere and APC Chieftain, Prince Marcon Nlemigbo in the APC primary election for Ikeduru/Mbaitoli Federal constituency,
The Mbaike Youths turn out in their numbers besieged Douglas House Owerri to protest against irregularities that took place at the APC primary election in Mbaitoli Council. Governor Rochas Okorocha on receiving their petition said that he abhors imposition of candidate and that every election must be free and fair. The APC Presidential aspirant thanked the youths for their good conduct and assured them that the party will invite them for discussion and possibly, conduct another election.
Earlier, the youth’s spokes person, Comrade Chuks Iwuanyanwu said that injustice anywhere is a threat to democracy and warned the party not to impose any candidate on them. He said that one of the aspirants, Barr. Dan Iwuorie is the people’s choice but the Deputy Governor and Prince Nlemigbo forcefully quarantined the delegates so as to vote for another aspirant, Hon I.B Okafor as a consensus candidate.
He further alleged that the pattern of voting ward by ward instead of the traditional pattern often use in general elections so as to ascertain the ward that will not act to their instruction. He requested for a neutral ground for the re-election adding that failure to do so would warrant protest vote against APC party just as they did against PDP in 2011.
