Sen Samdaddy Congratulates Owerri Zone Women On International Women’s Day Celebration

The Senator Representing Owerri Zone in the Senate, Distinguished Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu has congratulated the enterprising women of Owerri Zone on the occasion of the 2017 International Women’s Day with the theme, be bold for change.
In a statement signed by his Media Aide, Kelechi Eke, Senator Anyanwu eulogized women of Owerri and applauded them for their role in nation building. He wondered what Owerri Zone, and Nigeria would have been without the tions of women.

Senator Anyanwu emphasized his high regards and confidence in the capabilities of women which was one of the reasons behind his appointment of a woman as his senior legislative aide, the highest position in
the office of a Senator.
The statement recalled that three major Federal and State tertiary institutions in Owerri Zone, Imo State University, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, and Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education are all headed by women thereby reinforcing the capabilities of women.
The lawmaker urged younger women to see these women, and other hard working women as their model and source of inspiration in order to achieve their set targets.
Senator Anyanwu, who heads the Senate Committee on Ethics, Petitions and Privileges challenged women of Owerri Zone to use the opportunity of this year’s celebration to further engage in advocacies against female genital mutilation, breast cancer, prostitution and other vices that demean womanhood in line with the theme of this year’s celebration.
He congratulated his wife, Mrs Florence Olachi Anyanwu, mother, Chief Mrs Virginia Anyanwu, Senior Legislative Aide, Mrs Ijeoma Nwafor, his women mobilizers and canvassers, and the entire women of Owerri Zone, while wishing them a memorable and fruitful celebration.
