The level of infrastructural decay witnessed in Imo state Polytechnic Umuagwu in the past is now a thing of the part, following to the intervention of the present administration of Imo state led by Owelle Rochas Okorocha to rescue the institution.
The Rector of the institution Rev. Madu said that the state government intervention within a short period, has transformed both academic activities and agricultural programme for which the institution is known for. He further said that the institution have a modern cassava processing machine, the second highest in the South – East and South – South zones.
The Rector added that the college lies on a 400 hectare of farm land, adding that it can produce cassava to feed the entire state and for export. He also disclosed that the institutions fish farm harvests over 40, 000 capacity fish pound adding that at inception of this administration, Governor Okorocha called on the institution of increases I its fish production capacity with modern techniques made available to it by the state government. According to him, the institution’s poultry farm and pineapple Orchard have been greatly improved to meet high demands in the recent times.
He adding, Prof. Njoku thanked the present administration in Imo state for deeming it necessary to improve teaching and learning in the institution and pledged his resolve to contribute his wealth of experience for the future benefit of Imo youths.
