For his superlative performance in the hallowed chamber of the Imo State House of Assembly from 2015-2017, the Speaker, Rt Hon Acho Ihim has adopted the member representing Orsu State constituency in the IMHA, Hon. Engr. Uche F. Agabige for a second tenure.

This played out last Saturday, November 25,2017 at the Orsu LGA Council headquarter, Awo-Idemili during the constituency Briefing ceremony and Empowerment of over 700 graduates of Orsu Scheme for Empowerment and Development (OSED).

Speaker Ihim who was also bestowed with a Chieftaincy title by Ndieze Orsu as “Onwa of Orsu” alongside Agabige who was bestowed with a clan chief title as “Ifechukwu-kwuru of Orsu” in his address tagged Agabige as a blaze trailer.

Ihim pointed out that Orsu electorate made no mistake in voting for Agabige, stressing that for a first timer in the Imo Assembly to attain such greater heights, he would do more if voted in for a second tenure in 2019.

Speaker further revealed that he wouldn’t have become a Speaker if he is to be a first timer, hence prophesied that Orsu might produce a speaker, Deputy or a ranking lawmaker by 2019 only if they re-elect Agabige for a second term.

Also, he confessed that if Uche Agabige handles a micro-phone or stands to contribute in a debate, there is always a difference which he said portrays a mark of true leader/representative.

Meanwhile, the eulogized Agabige thrilled his constituents with empowerment largesse. Having trained over 700 in different skill acquisition programs through his OSED project, Agabige empowered them each with over 150 birds, winner pigs and fingerlings for specialties in Agriculture (Farming, Poultry, Piggery and Fishery); Sewing Machines, Generator Sets, Driers, Saloon, Hairdressing Apparatuses, Grinding Machines for cooperative market women of Eke Ubahaeze, Nkwo Idemili and others.

Empowered also were the 204 APC Executive in the area, as well as the non-indigenes in Orsu.

Similarly, the graduates were trained in Agriculture, Information Communication Technology ICT, Tailoring, Hair Dressing and Catering.

In his speech, Hon Uche Agabige said that he is giving back to the people for trusting him through their votes and unalloyed supports. He promised never to look down on them as well as giving them strong voice in the Assembly.

In their respective Speeches, the immediate past Orsu lawmaker, Bro Stan Dara, Deacon Chike Okafor, Chief Osy Okpara Orjiako, IMSU/FUTO students Orsu Chapters poured encomiums on their lawmaker by issuing him with awards of excellence respectively.

According to Bro Stan Dara, “Uche has done things I couldn’t do. It’s not easy to perform in this poor economy. In fact, he has surprised me”.
