The desire of Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to make real his dream of emerging President of Nigeria has opened again following the current trend of events at the national polity.

Only few days ago, former President, Olusegun Obasanjo wrote a letter to President Buhari, where he requested the incumbent to a matter of fact, forgetrunning for 2019 Presidency.

Obasanjo, noted for passion to write letters to leaders and statesmen in his mould, sent a stinker to Buhari by asking him to relocate to Daura after 2019 and jettison a second tenure interest.

There are strong indications that a new vista has been opened for other Presidential ticket bidders like Okorocha to show interest in the next general election. Though, Obasanjo in the letter did not mention any successor or ask the ruling APC to pick another candidate, but it appears that a chance for Okorocha is in the offing considering his interest to become President in the past.

Apart from seeking for the office of the President in previous general elections under ANPP, PPP and AA, Okorocha in 2015 made attempts to pick APC ticket but Buhari cut the tall dream short to become the candidate forcing the governor of the State to make a U-turn and picked APC governorship candidate flag.

With 2019 signaling the end of the governor’s two term tenures in Imo State, going to Abuja has been on the lips Okorocha in the past.

Okorocha had announced to the public that he will only run for the Presidency in 2019 if Buhari fails to contest.

Should Buhari cave into the advice of Obasanjo not to run for the post, Okorocha is likely to warm up and show interest as an aspirant?

Trumpeta can also revealed that Obasanjo has been having close relationship with Okorocha in recent times and suspected to be scheming for a national position for the Imo State governor. On two occasions Heads of States of two African countries stepped into Owerri late last year for official functions, Obasanjo presence was felt in Owerri and Government House. He also paid glowing tributes to the Imo State Governor during his 55th birthday events

Obasanjo’s suspected romance with Okorocha became more prominence when the former President started drumming support for Igbo Presidency in 2019. With the letter, an opening can be said to be on the way for Okorocha should Buhari decide not to run.
