IMO SWAN SHOWS CONFIDENCE ON ARETOLA

The state council of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria SWAN has expressed its implicit confidence on the leadership of the acting Director of sports Mrs. Chizotam Aretola in moving sports forward in the state.

This was contained in a communiqué endorsed by the chairman Mr. john Nwaogu and secretary Iheanyi Emesiowum at the end of its extraordinary emergency meeting in Owerri to review the activities of sports in the state.

The Association with pride that Mrs. Aretola while in active sports captained both the state and National volleyball teams for years during which the country won laurels in many continental and international champion. In addition she was the secretary of the council an appointment she earned as a result of hard work, dedication to duty and obedient to authority. It was her position as the council’s secretary as well as her active participation in sport that equipped her in sports administration hence her appointment as the acting director of sports by the state government.

SWWAN also noted within her short period as the acting Director of Sports programme which holds every Friday at the Dan Anyiam Stadium and has moved full the state Athletics into regular training in preparation for the 18th National Sports Festival

Coming up in Lagos later this year.

It is worthy to note that the weekend programme ably supervised by Mrs Aretola, four Athletes from the state and their coaches have qualified for the London 2012 Olympic which is no mean feat.

The communique went further to state that as a result of her humane and highly principled nature she has remained the toast of all staff of the council which remains the best way to achieve result in any organization.

SWAN also commended the commissioner for youths and sports for the good result so far registered by the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri in a record time. It pointed out the embarking on the establishment of two Stadia by Owelle Okorochas administration is a good development and will help in fishing out hidden talents that are bound in our Local Government areas.

It appealed to the Governor to give heartland football Club a top priority attention in the area of welfare adding that fund should not only be released but also in good time for the Club’s Premier League and Continental engagements.
