Circumstances and uncertainty surrounding who will ‘best fit’ in for the Chairmanship position of Oru East Local Government Area, Imo State, among all the aspirants jostling for the position  is becoming clearer, as one of the top contenders, Hon Chimezie Paul Udogwuh has given a prelude on why he stands tall among his opponents.

Hon Chimezie Paul Udogwuh hails from Eziawo 11 autonomous community, in Ubahaeze Awo Omamma, Oru East.

He is business mogul, and currently contesting for Oru East Council Chairmanship stool under the All Progressive Congress, APC.

In an interactive session with Trumpeta correspondent, yesterday in his Awo Omamma campaign office, Mr Udogwuh said, the quest to pilot the affairs of the LGA was borne out of his altruistic desire to ensure effectiveness in the council’s administration.

Giving out his policy thrusts, Udogwuh challenged the immediate past Chairman of Oru East, Barr Evaristus Duru, who in one of his recent Newspaper publications claimed to have been returned unopposed, to present his score card as a former TC boss.

According to Udogwuh, “Saying he is returned unopposed by Oru East people is a joke of the century. By the way, why should he say that? What has he done for the people all this time he was the chairman? Well, I think because we are in a democratic dispensation where freedom of speech is allowed that made him make such a laughable statement”.

In addition, he said, “I stand a 100% chance than him. A mad man on the streets and an ordinary man in Oru East can attest to that. I am not praising myself on the fact, but saying what is substantial. My antecedents are there to testify”.

He revealed that his aspiration has been to render selfless services to his people, even as he outlined some, which includes; the grading of roads, distribution of learning materials to schools, payment of tuition/school fees of destitute indigenes, sponsoring of football competitions for the youths, as a unifying force all across the shores of Oru East LGA.

He continued that whoever that is nursing the ambition to serve the public should be able to render account of his stewardship to his people.

Expressing optimism about the forthcoming elections, he enjoined the APC State leadership, the State Governor and other high political office holders to say “No” to imposition of candidates or money bags, rather should be more concerned on credibility, accessibility, trustworthiness and who the masses are willing to support and vote for.

“Politics should be on one’s good records, and not necessarily on money. As for the Oru East LGA elections, before the Governor, Uche Nwosu or any other person makes a costly mistake that might rub the party victory in 2019, they should rather come to the Council and conduct a popularity test, through that, they will know who the people are truly with. Let the people’s choice prevail”. Hon Chimezie Udogwuh asserted.
