War of supremacy is said to be raging between the former Transition Chairman of Owerri North LGA, Hon Celestine Ololo and the Egbelu Obube Autonomous Community.

According to information available Imo Trumpeta, the bone of contention is that the Ex TC Chairman, who still operates as the legitimate head of Owerri North LGA, though in secret, has refused to acknowledge the Traditional Ruler of the community, Eze Jude Nwogu and the President General, Chief George Nkwoji.

Speaking to Imo Trumpeta, the President- General, Chief Nkwoji said the issue at hand was caused by Hon Ololo, who refused to follow due process, by obeying the rules of the community, but instead wants to use his position as a former TC chairman to force down his decision down the throats of Egbelu Obube community.

Imo Trumpeta learnt that immediately Ololo assumed office as TC chairman, he began by foisting his policies on the community by ignoring the Traditional Ruler and PG who are the custodians of the people. It was said that he even requested for land on which he said government would build school for the community, without feasibility studies from government, yet the land was given to him.

It was learnt that in order to disgrace the Traditional Ruler of Egbule Obube, Ololo allegedly chose a Traditional Ruler from a neighbouring community to head the Community Government of Egbelu Obube, to the surprise of many prominent sons of the area, who have been expressing disgust since then.

To add salt to injury, Ololo was said to have organized the last Women August meeting, without informing the Traditional Ruler, the wife of the Eze or the President General, but rather organized it through the wife of his Chief – of – staff.

However, it was learnt that the patience of the community was stretched to the limit when one of the women in the community, allegedly under the prompting of Ololo openly insulted the Traditional Ruler, Eze Nwogu and the president – General.

The community therefore saw this as the straw that broke the camels back which has also desecrated the Traditional stool of the community.

The men folk of Egbelu Obube therefore poured libation invoking the spirits of their fore fathers, while the women demonstrated with palm fonts and leaves, calling on Hon Celestine Ololo to either apologize to their Traditional Ruler or stay away from the community.

Speaking to Imo Trumpeta, the spokesman of the community, Hon Agu Evans Agu said that nobody knew Ololo in the community until he was asked to come back home from USA by Governor Okorocha, who is his in-law, to become TC Chairman of Owerri North LGA.

He said Ololo has no respect for constituted authorities and that is why he has no regard for the Traditional stool of Egbelu Obube community.

Hon Evans Agu said the community has a well organized secretariat, with salary paid workers, pointing out that Egbelu Obube is an autonomous community, with a recognized Traditional Ruler, who has a pedigree and means of livelihood, and was disappointed that a son of the community was treating their Eze with ignominy.

When Imo Trumpeta called Hon Celestine Ololo yesterday on phone (12:07pm) a voice picked the call, asking that this Newspaper should call again after five minutes.

We called again by 12:20 pm the phone rang through without anybody picking it. And by 12:30 we rang again and Hon Celestine Ololo picked the call and replied that he has no problem with the Traditional Ruler, the PG or Egbelu Obube community. “No problem at all, no problem” he said.
