As the war of words between the Imo State Government led by Sen Hope Uzodinma and the camp of his immediate predecessor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha gets messier daily, another front of verbal exchanges has been opened.
The new vista of cross fire attacks has to do with the exotic N187m worth of vehicle, the state government accused Ihedioha of purchasing before he left office.
Information and strategy commissioner, Hon Mbadiwe Emelumba informed the public that the Ihedioha who handed over to Uzodinma, was reckless in expenditure to have spent a whooping sum of N137m to purchase a single vehicle adding that the Supreme Court verdict which removed the PDP candidate as the state governor was timely as it exited Imolites from the hands of Ihedioha’s uncanny way of waste of state resources.
Emelumba, serving under Uzodinma further explained that there was no need for the state to have such a costly vehicle even as it added that it was for Ihedioha’s personal use.
However, in a swift reaction, associates of Ihedioha surprised at the claims after the state government has in possession of the said car described Uzodinma’s car claims as diversionary and speaks columes of the inability of the incumbent to deliver dividends of democracy since coming into office.
While accusing Uzodinma of using his information commissioner to reducing governance to mere “street Njakiri” level, making a cacophony of serious business of governance the incumbent was asked to face governance.
According to Ihedioha’s campaign spokesman, Barr Kissinger Ikeokwu, “Hon Emelumba’s recent gaff is the shameful display of an official government vehicle procured during the Ihedioha administration which the new government of Governor Hope Uzodinma has taken delivery of.
Ikeokwu added “there is no gainsaying the fact that Emelumba is chasing shadows to please his Boss.
Giving a clearer picture, PDP State Secretary Hon Ray Emeana added that “Ihedioha procured cars for the state and not for self.
It also didn’t stop him from paying salaries. He paid workers and pensioners too.
“The Staff car for the governor today was procured by the Ihedioha administration.
Ihedioha used the car for about three months and there was no scratch on it.
Under three weeks of Uzodinma, the car was damaged. Ihedioha rebuild while they destroy” Emeana added.
