… How He Removed #800,000 From Car Owner

The popular axiom that a fool at forty is a fool forever doesn’t apply to one Placid Uzocha because men of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, last weekend arrested him for alleged involvement in auto burglary.

Uzocha who is above 50 years of age is in police custody and awaiting prosecution for allegedly making away about #800,000 from his victim’s vehicle.

Police Account
The suspect, Placcid Uzocha “M” from Ngugo in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo state according to the Commissioner of Police, Isaac Akinmoyede, in company of one Peter Obodozie now at large, connived and robbed the unsuspecting victim.

The CP informed that, unknown to the victim, one Deacon James Nwosu from Umuelem, Ihiagwa in Owerri West LGA, he was trailed from First bank on Port Harcourt road to Owerri Municpal where he parked his car.

Moments after he parked his car, the suspects were said to have used a master key to open the victim’s Pathfinder Jeep and made away with his money said to be be #800,000 which he had withdrawn from the bank.

Acting on tip off, Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS operatives swung into action and arrested the suspect but unfortunately, #50,000 had already been spent from the money with #750,000 being recovered amount, including an ash coloured Toyota Camry car with Reg No. AKD756EZ, which allegedly is being used by the hoodlums for operation.

When quizzed by newsmen, the suspect was aloof, kept mute and refused to address questions directed at him.

However, the police has begun investigation to arrest the fleeing suspect.

Victim’s Account
The Victim narrated that, after his withdrawal at Firstbank on Portharcourt road, he noticed that he was being trailed on his way back to Ihiagwa, even after making stopovers at Avu Mechanic village and a block industry at Obinze.

On getting to Ihiagwa, after filling his car at a pump station, he went straight to monitor work at his building site but was alerted by noise out side. On coming out, he discovered that his car has been burgled and money meant for payment of workers at the site stolen.

The suspects were given a hot chase from Ihiagwa upto Avu Junuction where they were over powered by the police. One was arrested and the other escaped, leaving behind the vehicle used for robbing and #750,000 remaining of the loot.

Suspect’s Reaction
When quizzed by newsmen, the suspect was aloof, kept mute and refused to address questions directed at him.

For #35,0000 Man In Military Camouflage Nabbed For Kidnapping

Operatives of the command has nabbed one Cajethan Ndubuisi for allegedly disguising in an army camouflage for kidnap.

According to the release, the 27yrs old suspect popularly known as MC Air Freshener of Idegele Asa in Ohaji/ Egbema LGA of Imo state, in company of Osita Onyeji, a 49years old native of Umucheke Onuimo LGA were arrested at a lonely place close to Naze Timber Market in Owerri North LGA.

“On 14/05/2020 at 0500hrs information was received that some persons suspected to be kidnappers were hibernating in a lonely place close to Naze Timber Market in Owerri North L.G.A. On receipt of the information, operatives of Anti-Kidnapping Unit swung into action, stormed the hide-out and arrested the above named suspects, while other members of their gang escaped.”

“On interrogation, they confessed to series of kidnapping within Owerri North and its environs. They also mentioned their gang members who are on the run. They volunteered useful statement that will led to arrest of those at large. Investigation is ongoing.”

Fielding questions from journalists, the suspect informed that he got his military wear from one of his members, further informing that he has been involved in kidnapping five times and made #35,000.
One Army camouflage uniform was recovered as exhibit.

5 Obinze Youths In Police Net Over Kidnapping, Cultism

About five youths from Obinze community in Owerri West LGA are languishing in Police custody over alleged involvement in kidnapping and cultism.

According to the police, the suspects are, Ikechukwu Okoroma ‘M” 20yrs and Ekene Anoruo “M” 19yrs both from Umuezerochi Obinze, Chukwuemeka Onyemaechi “M” 29yrs from Obokwu Obinze. While, Ubanwa Patrick “M” 27yrs and Chukwuemeka Onyemaechi “M” 29yrs both also from Umueje Obinze.

“On 21/4/2020 at about 1830hrs, one Okeke Tobechukwu ‘m’ of Umuebo Obinze Owerri West LGA but resident at Redemption Estate Umuguma, Owerri West L.G.A was kidnapped by unknown men armed with a pump action gun and machetes, as he closed from his farm work within same area.”

“While trying to force him into his car, victim escaped from the hoodlums and they shot one Christopher Japheth ‘m’ who was with him and caused him severe injury on his leg.”

“On receipt of the information, operatives of Anti-kidnapping Unit swung into action and arrested one Ikechukwu Okoroma ‘m’ in his hideout at Umuezerochi Obinze Owerri West LGA.”

” The suspect confessed to the crime of kidnapping/cultism mentioning his gang members and took operatives to another hideout where the other four suspects were arrested. They also confessed to the crime stating that they belong to Black Movement of Africa confraternity ‘aka’ Black Axe. Case is under investigation.”

Exhibit recovered are- one pump action gun, four live cartridge, one machete, one leg of rubber slippers belonging to victim, one small black and yellow axe symbolizing Black Movement of Africa Confraternity also known as Black Axe, one Acer laptop computer, charms and instrument used in smoking hard drugs.

Imo CP Blows Hot For Criminals

The Imo state Commissioner of Police, CP Isaac Akinmoyede has stated in clear terms that criminal elements in the state should steer clear.

He made the statement in his maiden media briefing in his office shortly before he parade of suspects recently.

“It is my optimism that the Command will achieve great success in the area of crime prevention and detection as a lot of energy will be put into this. Criminals are therefore advised to stay clear of this state as they will not be spared in any way.”

He promised that, the command under his watch will adopt the concept of community policing and assured that all relevant stakeholders in the community and the security sector will work together.

“Under my watch, the Command will fully imbibe and practice the concept of Community Policing. In the coming day, the Advisory Committee of the Community Policing in the state will be inaugurated to kick start activities in this direction. To this end, Religious Leaders, Traditional Rulers, Civil Society Organizations, Transport Union Associations, Market Union Leaders and other stakeholders in security will be brought on board in our resolve to truly make Imo State a place for all.”

CP Akinmoyede while commending the existing  synergy between sister security agencies in the state, appealed to Imolites to adhere to government directives on  COVID- 19, adding that, his men will ensure they enforce the directives, but charged men of the force to desist from brutality in the discharge of their job.

Ex IBC Boss Stabs Wife To Death

It was black Friday for people of Umuohiagu in Ngor Okpala LGA of Imo State as a former Imo Broadcasting Corporation Director General (Name Witheld) allegedly stabbed his wife to death.

Trumpeta learnt that, the man and wife has been engulfed in family challenges which culminated to a fight, which eventually led to her death.

Though details of what transpired have not been made public, Trumpeta learnt that, the incident happened in their village.

The decease retired as a staff of Imo state Polytechnic, Umuagwo.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Orlando Ikeokwu confirmed the incident. He however informed that, police is investigating the matter.

How Man Faked Wife, Children Kidnap

One Obinna Anusiem is cooling his ass in police detention for faking kidnap of his family

The suspect 34yrs, who hails from Umuima Atta in Njaba LGA of Imo state, it was discovered faked the kidnap to indict his brother, one Okechukwu Anusiem, over a land tussle that has been going on for sometime, but luck ran out on him.

“On 12/04/2020 the above suspect reported at Njaba Police Station that his wife Mrs. Chinyere Anusiem and two of his children were kidnapped by one Okechukwu Anusiem and that his wife had been in hostage for days, leading to his incarceration in police custody.”

“When the case was transferred to Anti kidnapping Unit for discreet investigation, operatives of Anti kidnapping Unit discovered that the said Obinna Anusiem ‘m’ who alleged that his wife and two children were kidnapped was the person who took his wife and children to his in-law’s house at Okwudor in same Njaba LGA.”

” He hid them there and maliciously accused Okechukwu Anusiem his cousin of kidnapping, because of land dispute and other family misunderstanding. He confessed to the crime. The suspect will soon appear in court”

The suspect when questioned, tearfully said the act was done to indict his brother because of the way he sells off the family land and they are not given anything.
