Happiness will be the lot of workers in Imo State if what the governor, Hope Uzodinma said during the meeting held with concerned heads of government agencies in the state is anything to be taking serious.
Recall that one of the sad aspects of Uzodinma’s government since he came on board has been issues of non payment and slashing of salaries of civil servants in Imo.
In the meeting, held on Tuesday, Trumpeta was reliably informed that the governor has promised to handle issues related to the challenges.
According to him, the civil service reforms were needful so as to create the required partnership between the State Government and the Civil servants, which will in turn engineer a win-win situation and also create value for money for the Government through the services of the Imo workers.
“To this end, I met with the heads of the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as appointees of the State Government in order to finalize on the issue of the salaries of some civil servants and pensioners in the State”.
Speaking further in a post, Uzodinma said”the meeting afforded us the opportunity to match the Government’s record of all paid workers/pensioners and unpaid workers/pensioners with the data from the MDAs.
“As a Government, we have done our bit to have a more meaningful and realistic payroll, as the purse of the Government was bleeding due to Ghost workers, manipulation of the payment schedules and fraudulent entries in payrolls”.
