Gunshots Boom In Imo Community Again As Commuters Run Into Bush On Owerri Orlu Road

Another round of trouble was witnessed on Monday in Imo State as yet  to the identified gunmen undertook a  shootout on the road. Trumpeta learnt that following the tensed situation in the South East region over yesterday’s court case of IPOB  leader,  Nnamdi Kalu some suspected pro Biafra sympathizers took to block the road on Owerri/ Orlu road. According to our Reporter who was also in one of the vehicles during the gunshots reminiscent of  the era of the  unknown gunmen boomed, which sent the travelers scampering for safety while on the road.
The particular environment occupied by the gun wielding youths was around the Njaba bridge area towards Orlu. Many drivers reversed and took the route to Orlu through Umuaka round about while offloaded their passengers and headed back to Owerri.
In a chat, a commuter who said he is a Yoruba opted going back to Owerri to lodge, to continue his trip to Orlu on Tuesday.
According to him, “it have witnessed a lot of such scenario and wouldn’t want to take a risk”.
Trumpeta  was informed that the unknown gunmen have blocked part of the road shooting guns to scare away road users who it was believed didn’t show solidarity to their cause. Efforts to know reasons why the gunshots were  on proved abortive as those  who were behind the act went into the bush. However, security men were spotted from Owerri moving to Orlu end as well as those from Orlu going towards Orlu to combat the suspected gunmen.
But before their arrival, the gunmen who blocked the road had disappeared.  No life was lost in the hole shootout and efforts to speak to the police command proved abortive.
