CHUKWUMA OKERE’S DEATH: A BIG LOSS TO RATTAWU SOUTH EAST ZONE.

The radio, Television and theatre Arts workersUnion, RATTAWU national delegates from the South East Zone have paid a condolence visit to the IBC management and members on the death of the chapter chairman, comrade Chukwuma Okere.

Speaking on the occasion, the Delta state Chairman of RATTAWU Comrade Innocent Ofuonyeadi who represented the president, Comrade Oluwayemisi Bambose described the death of Chukwuma as a big loss not only for IBC and Imo state but the whole of South East.

Comrade Ofuonyeadi revealed that this is a very trial period for theUnionpointing out that in the past two weeks, the union had lost five of its members and stressed the need for prayers for God’s intervention.

He maiantained that the warefare is intellectual and creative urging members to always think out what will contribute positively to the union as well as fraternize and emulate from other colleagues.

Also speaking, the Anambra state chapter chairman Comrade Emeka Kalu described late Chukwuemeka Okere as a good person and active unionist maintaining that one can die but death cannot kill the vibrancy of active humanity in him.

Comrade Kalu noted the deceased meaningful contributions and remarks in meetings regretting that the shock was coming at a time when RATTAWU wants to show that they have come of age and called for proper care of those he left behind.

He appealed for operational vehicles in all the states councils to enable the union operate optimally.

Responding, the Director of Administration in the IBC, Mr Samuel Eluchie who represented the acting Director – general, Mr Alex Nwahiri noted that Okere’s death is coincidental as he died on the workers day when he would have led his team to the stadium adding that we cannot question God.

Mr Eluchie commended the spirit of Comradeship in the union maintaining that the visit shows highest level of solidarity and pledged improved welfare packages for IBC members.

He expressed the resolve of the management to give Chukwuma a befitting burial as well as ensure that his family members do not suffer.
