The aspiration of the duo of Rt Hon Uche Onyeagucha and Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume’s son to be elected Senator  have been dashed following their lost of votes to opponents.

While Onyeagucha contested for Imo East (Owerri Zone) Senate under the PDP platform, Araraume Jnr gunned for Imo North (Okigwe Zone) Senate under the Labour Party.

The last Saturday’s February 25, 2023 polls saw the duo of Onyeagucha and Araraume  Jnr lost to their rivals, Ezenwa Onyewuchi (Labour Party), and Patrick Ndubueze (APC), respectively.

Luck smiled on Onyewuchi, the sitting Senator for Owerri Zone when he quickly grabbed the Labour Party ticket after losing the PDP primaries to Onyeagucha.

However, the Peter Obi wave paved way for him thereby guaranteeing his election for the red chamber.

Both Onyeagucha and Ezenwa slugged it out for the PDP ticket, but he later had the last smile under the Labour Party.

For Okigwe Seat, the young Ifeanyi Araraume Jnr almost cruised to victory, but was cut hands down by his APC kinsman, Patrick Ndubueze, a former Reps member.

Although no authoritative information has been unraveled so far from both parties, it is suspected that both would seek a redress in court.

Feelers have it that both have the notion that the results which produced the announced winners were marred by irregularities.

Again, it was believed that Owerri zone which happened to be the catchment area for the umbrella party could have given a strong electoral block for Onyeagucha’s victory. Unfortunately, Labour Party clinched the opportunity.

On Araraume Jnr, his blood ties with the father gave other contenders worry that he would win.
