Unity African Nations Cup, Unites Umuoma-Nekede

     The on going African Unity  Football competition which kicked-started on the December 13, has in no little way attracted peace, love and unity to the good people of Umuoma-Nekede in Owerri-West Local Government Area.

According to the youth leader of Umnoma, Mr. Chinedu Ejiogu (Shanker), the competition is the brain child of the peace and football loving youths of Umuoma who came together to use the game of football in uniting the old and young men and women of Umuoma.

The vibrant and visionary youth leader also informed ‘Imo Trumpeta’ that the competition will also help to identify the numerous footballing talents that are abound in Umuoma Community.

Speaking the local organizing chairman of the competition, Chinedu Mejuobi (solution) expressed his happiness over the level of football that is being displayed by the teams adding that with this competition, Umuoma can comfortably form a very strong football team that can challenge for honours in the state and the Nation at large.

In his own reaction, the secretary of the LOC, Mr. Chinyere Emerenwa (footprinters) informed that the championship was fashioned after the African Nations cup that will soon be taken place in South Africa by7 January 19, 2013.

Six Nations, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Senegal, and Zambia are the teams participating in the tournament which will enter its knock-out stage on December 28 and 29, while the final comes up on December 31.

The first and second positions will take home 70,000 and 50, 000 naira respectively as the remaining teams will receive 10,000 each as consolation prices.

There are also special awards for best behaved team, best goal keeper, best player and the highest goal scores in the tournament.

To crown the Xmas festivities, there will be a novelty match between the home team and the abroad team on January 1st, to further promote peace and unity.
