Non league side, First Mahi Babes FC on Tuesday held NWFL side Heartland Queens to a goalless draw in the final of the 2023 Imo State FA cup held at the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri.

The NWFL side however retained their trophy after they won the keenly contested final winning 4-5 on penalties after the regulation time ended goalless.

Agba Chizitere and Chize Goodness had good chances to win the final for First Mahi Babes but couldn’t keep their efforts down both at the first and second stanza.

The Owerri Landladies made flourish of substitutions in the second half but couldn’t really effect the game till the referee brought the exciting encounter to and end to be decided on penalties.

Both sides having qualified to represent the state at the 2023 AITEO cup this year will now have to prepare to compete at the national level later in the year.

Reacting on the outcome, the Vice president of First Mahi FC, Prince Chidiebere Eze Onuoha commended the players for their spirited effort and the ability to hold Heartland Queens to a goalless draw.

He thanked the club President Mr MA Wale Waliuddin and Uncle Paul for their Unflinching support to the team adding that with their continued support the team will surely go places.
