Drivers Advised To Respect Road Users

Drivers have been advised to respect other road users and shun recklessness.
The eze-elect Ogbe Ahiara, Prince Pat Ihuoma gave the advice during his investiture as patron of the branch union in his palace, Ugoeteremmanu Umuoma Ogbe.
He urged them to obey traffic rules, put on seat belt, refrain from drunk driven, over loading, dangerous overtaking, use of hand set and receiving calls while driving.
The eze-elect guaranteed unadulterated co-operation and support to the union and urged them to jettison inimical acts that could bring contempt and disrepute.
He warned against indulging in illicit drugs and other criminal acts, emphasizing on stronger ties with the police and other security agencies to stem down crime to the barest minimum.
Earlier in his address, the Chairman NURTW Ahiazu Mbaise, Chief John Osuagwu outlined that their patrons play advisory roles and guard against infiltration, stating that the union would ever remain grateful to late patrons, Chief Donatus Onu and Rtd. Justice Ugo Ugoagwu for their concern and responsiveness.
He said the registered trade union empowered to manage and control commercial drivers carrying goods and passengers on Nigerians roads and in all motor parks in the federation is affiliated to Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
Chief Osuagwu underlined maintenance and operations of motor parks as part of their ancillary functions and assured operations within the law.
He reiterated the need for union workers to be on uniform to differentiate between them and the touts while drivers on charter document their movements with photographs of the hiring clients taken at the NURTW Secretariat, Afor Oru to checkmate risk.
The Divisional Police Officers (DPO) Mr. Jonathan Modi, Area Commander Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Mrs. Blessing Mamkwere among other local heads of security agencies witnessed the event.
Former President-General Oru Ahiara – Chief Dennis Ahiarakwe, the Union Branch Secretary – Mr. Innocent Opara and Unit Chairmen – Mr. Anayo Chukwu,Mr. Chinyeaka Kalu, Chief Jonathan Nworji, Mr. Peter Njoro, Mr. Geofrey Nwauda, Chief Paulinus Uwah and Mr. Collins Mbegbu as well as some of the Eze’s cabinet – Chief Alex Okoro, Nze Chris Ihuoma, Nze Laz Ochi, Okaruo Dan Onyirimba and Pastor Victor Amako were all present at the investiture
