No fewer than 20 states will be doing battle for the 2013 President Cup which is organized by Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON). The Imo State YSFON team remains confident of the president Unity football competition in Bayelsa starting from February 24 promising to put in their best in ensuring that the state is well represented at the Unity event. The bulk of footballers that have played for Nigeria’s National teams participated in previous editions of the competition. The Chairman Imo YSFON who also doubles as YSFON’s Vice President Mr Ndubuisi Opara revealed to Imo Trumpeta in a telephone conversation that though the team is fully prepared to embark on the quest, but he was also quick to call on well meaning Imolites as well as co-operate organizations to come to the aid of the Imo contingent financially which will in turn serve as an avenue of launching their business to limelight. He was however grateful to the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha and the Commissioner for youth and sports Hon. Kenneth Emelu for their astute support to YSFON since ascending their office. In a related development, Opara who had his footballing career with Eagle cement (Dolphins of Port Harcourt) before moving to South Africa for a professional stint commended the Governor of Bayelsa State Mr Seriaki Dickson for investing massively in the sports sector. This according to him would help to develop the capacities of youths pursuing careers in sports and thereby reduce the menace of youth unemployment and crime in the Nation..
