Trouble of monumental proportion is set to ravage the Imo Transport Company (ITC) following threats by the corporation’s franchise owners to shut down ITC loading bays across the federation. Loading Bays are places or parks where Transport buses load and offload passengers and goods. ITC, a state government owned transport firm is believed to have bays in some states in the country.
Trumpeta was reliably informed hat the decision of the franchise owners to engage in this latest action is the fallout of an ongoing disagreement between the workers and the management consultancy firm of the corporation Ginikana led by Chief Emeka Duru.
Duru’s firm, Ginikana has been accused of high-handedness, irregular payment of workers salaries and disrespect to the franchise workers who have sustained ITC for several years by wining awards as the best state owned Transport Company in Nigeria.
The rift between the workers and the management consultancy firm has continued to grow in leaps and bounds, with fresh allegations by the franchise workers leveled against Ginikana that monies meant for payment of their salaries was diverted.
The GM of the consultancy firm, Ginikana, Mr Emeka Duru, had in the past denied ever implementing policies and programmes considered inimical to the welfare of the corporation. When Trumpeta dialed his GSM phone for his response on the situation, there was no response. An SMS to him were also unreplied.
