Serving Commissioners and other categories of appointees were sent packing yesterday when Governor Okorocha approved the long awaited dissolution during weekly Exco meeting.

Indications that there would be cabinet reshuffle emerged during events marking the second year anniversary of the present government when he publicly declared interest to relieve them of their duties. Barely a week after he assembled people from different wards across the state to asses the popularity and acceptance of political appointees, the Governor wielded the big stick.

The sacked Commissioners were requested to hand over all official documents in their possessions to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective Ministries while Special Advisers and Senior Special Assistants and political appointees affected by the decision are to hand over to the SSG Chief-of-Staff, Government House respectively.

Meanwhile, data of those who are likely going to return as members of Exco is beginning to emerge. Leading the pack are Nick Opara-Ndudu, Hon Uche Nwosu and Deacon Chike Okafor.

It was learnt that as part of the surgical operation aimed at strengthening the state Exco, fundamental changes would be experienced in the formation of the new State Executive and former Commissioners found wanting and indicted by any means would not smell any ministry again.

The trio of Opara-Ndudu, Nwosu and Okafor would gain a comeback bid for not only winning the support of their constituents but also discharging their duties creditably well. Except for the rosy relationship between Okorocha and Ichie Uche Best Mbanasor who also functions as Deputy Chief of Staff, there would be no office for him as he was rated low by his constituents who accused him of incompetence and abuse of power.

Former Agric Commissioner, Adaora Ijezie may not return following the vote of no confidence she received from her people during the interactive session with the Governor at Ahiajoku Centre.

Another major player in Okorocha’s ousted cabinet that may be bidding goodbye to the commissionership position is Soronnadi Njoku. After some unfavourable court decisions against the Governor, Njoku may be dumped for a new vibrant lawyer to energize the legal department of the state.

Others who reportedly fell short of expectations and got low marks that may finally throw them out of the Executive Council are Mrs Ann Dozie and Ugochi Nnanna Okoro, who were alleged to lack the necessary administrative skills to manage their portfolios. While Dozie was accused of being insensitive to the challenges expected from Women Affairs Ministry, Nnanna Okoro’s perceived controversial approach to official matters may have made her ministry a hotbed of crisis for the Rescue Mission government.

Emma Ekweremba’s deficient and rejection of his Ohaji/Egbema people who reportedly passed a vote of no confidence on him as well as his colleagues who were in charge of Health and Education, Dr Obi Njoku and Prof Adaobi Obasi respectively.

Trumpeta further learnt that to accommodate the interest of APC co-travelers in Imo State, nomination would be considered from stakeholders like Senator Osita Izunaso, Col Lambert Ihenacho, (Rtd) Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN) and Uche Onyeagocha, who recently began hot romance with the Governor.
