A prominent community leader from Avu autonomous community in the Owerri West LGA Oha Peter Ogbuefi Oha has called on Imo State Government to give the chairman of Imo State Council of traditional rules HRH Eze Samuel Chin more powers to pilot the affairs of the traditional institution in the state better.
Oha Peter Ogbuefi barred his mind while reacting to reporters questions in his country home, Avu at the weekend. He maintained that the traditional rulers boss be given powers to entertain and investigate petitions against royal fathers and if any one is found wanting he would be queried by government.
The community leader noted that such powers would aim at checkmating royal fathers towards maintenance of peace, unity and love adding that Eze Chins emergence as chairman of traditional rulers in Imo state was God- given and timely, and then enjoined him to look deep- down to fish out rulers who are 4l9ers, a betters of kidnapping, armed robbery, etc.
He regretted that peace, progress, unity and equity are lacking in most communities where the royal fathers are criminals, who pervert justice like the Biblical story of Ahab-Jezebel towards Naboths vine yard.
Oha Ogbuefi said that many royal fathers fan embers of discord, acrimony, conflicts due to their lopsided actions and decisions, thus regretting that most civil matters pending in courts should be handled by them but due to loss of confidence people prefer judicial options. Oha Ogbuefi then advised government to mandate traditional rulers to fish out people of questionable character in their localities and if anyone fails, government should tag him enemy of government and the state for hoarding and abetting crime.
He called on the traditional rulers’ boss to ensure that people’s culture which is a symbol of unity, love and harmony are not erased and then urged all royal fathers to ensure that bad aspects of the peoples culture are removed and the good ones reviewed, and concluded that any society without culture has no identity.
Oha Ogbuefi lauded Governor Okorocha for aiming at takingImoState to the promised land.
