Worried that the present administration in Imo state has no regard for rule of law and not bothered about the law establishing Universities, group, the Academic Professionals AP, has threatened to drag the state Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha to court for not removing the acting Vice – Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof B.E.B Nwoke.
According to a statement made available to Imo Trumpeta by the group led by Dr Stephen Okoro, the AP has concluded arrangements to take Owelle Okorocha to court for allowing Prof Nwoke to continue in office. Dr Okoro said that the regulation of Nigerian Universities as contained in the official gazette, in Article 14, says “An acting Vice – Chancellor in all circumstances shall not be in office for more than 6 months”
It would be recalled that few days after Gov Okorocha came into power June last year; he removed the acting VC, Prof Nwebo and replaced him with Prof Nwoke. Nwoke has been in office for one year.
