The cordial Community relationship between Orogwe and Ndegwu in Owerri West went sour last Wednesday following the sudden death of an Ndegwu Vigilante personnel during a burial ceremony of one Lolo Nze Ononogbo of Umuomara Ndegwu.

According to an eyewitness, who spoke to this Reporter on condition of anonymity, the burial ceremony had been on smoothly until a little disagreement arose among youths of the area at the venue.

The disagreement drew the attention of Vigilante personnel around, among them one Mr Ebere Azu( AB-Boy) from Orogwe and Mr Israel Ewuzie(Araka Bullet) from Ndegwu.

The witness said Mr Ebere Azu who was wielding a gun had wanted to broker peace amongst the arguing youths alongside his colleague and friend, Mr Israel Ewuzie, but unknown to him his already cocked gun blew directly on his Colleague Mr Ewuzie.

Mr Ewuzie was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital in Orogwe but given the critical condition of the victim, the hospital authorities referred the case to another hospital. Incidentally, the victim who was bleeding from the nostrils gave up the ghost on the way.

No sooner the death of Mr Ewuzie filtered into the Community,. around 8pm last Wednesday, than the Ndegwu youths went on rampage to Orogwe for vengeance.

Their first port of call was the hospital the victim was initially taken to but they quickly left on noticing he was not there and headed to the family house of the Azus.

On arrival, the Ndegwu youths broke into the premises destroying and looting items of the occupants who had ran for their lives.

It took the intervention of the DPO Ogbaku Police Station and his men to dissuade the Ndegwu invaders.

The DPO, who obviously was not in the mood to talk or parley with anybody, maintained a tight face.

Meanwhile, operatives of the Tiger Base have apprehended Mr Ebere Azu for interrogation.

In another development, a delegation of Ndegwu Community are currently having a heart to heart discussion with their Orogwe counterparts concerning the development.

Recall that Orogwe and Ndegwu make up Umunwaoha autonomous Community with Eze Emmanuel Ejiogu as the traditional ruler.
