Clinton Amadi Gets Imo Lawmakers Backup, Wants Govt To Rehabilitate Critical Roads In Owerri Capital Development Areas

Member representing Owerri Municipal in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Clinton Amadi has passionately drawn the attention of the State government on the need for a total rehabilitation of connecting roads within the Owerri Capital Development Areas.

This was contained in a motion moved on the floor of the House on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

Amadi commended the governor for his ongoing infrastructural strides, particularly in road development across the State.

He noted that Uzodimma’s achievements have earned him accolades as a “Road Master,” reflecting widespread approval of his administration’s commitment to improving road networks.

Despite these efforts, the lawmaker observed that several key roads vital to connectivity and traffic decongestion in Owerri and surrounding local government areas have yet to receive attention.

He maintained that the aforementioned roads play strategic roles in easing transportation challenges and supporting economic activities.

Among the roads highlighted are the Isiukwuator Road, which hosts major institutions including the WAEC office, Customs Quarters, multiple hotels, schools, hospitals, and student hostels.

Others include the Works Layout Road leading to the Standard Shoe Industry axis toward Mbaitoli Local Government Area, and the IMSU Back Gate Okwu Uratta Road linking Owerri North Housing areas.

The lawmaker also identified Ubochi Street and Enereji Street in Owerri Municipal, as well as several roads within the World Bank Housing Estate, as being in urgent need of intervention. These include the Holy Trinity Church Road, Site and Service roads, Imo Housing Estate roads, and Federal Housing Estate roads, all of which connect key parts of the municipality to Owerri West Local Government Area.

Additionally, the motion drew attention to the Yar’Adua Drive Road, which links the Onitsha Road corridor through the Hot FM axis and Baby Dove Estate in the New Owerri area.

In addition, the Chief mover opined that residents of the areas might suffer more during rainy season, unless urgent interventions are carried out.

Except for few divergent opinions of the members, majority of the lawmakers gave a nod to the motion. They were hopeful that the governor would give heed to the resolution of the motion.

However, the House resolved to urge the Governor to direct the Commissioner for Works to commence the Construction and Rehabilitation of the Isiukwuator WAEC road, Works Layout Standard Shoe Industry road, Ubochi and Enereji roads, World Bank Housing Estate roads (e.g.) World Bank Market road through Holy Trinity Church, Site and Service roads, Imo Housing roads, Federal Housing roads and Yar’adua to Onitsha road to alleviate the sufferings and plight of the people living in those areas.
