The inability of the State Governor to properly address issues related to non release of monthly subvention to some parasatals in Imo State is brewing disharmony between one of the affiliate bodies and the state government.
It would be recalled that in the past few months, about 25 parasatals have been denied their monthly allocation forcing workers of the affected government agencies to protest the stoppage.
Governor Okorocha’s inability to revoke the no-subvention order during the May Day celebration prompted the Joint Negotiating Council, JNC, to threaten industrial action.
The JNC members who were strongly opposed to Wednesday’s “Excellency Award” given to the Governor by the state NLC Chapter over reported anti-worker’s policy, has concluded arrangements to begin strike action on Monday May 6.
Top members of the JNC who felt betrayed by NLC officials in the state disclosed that there is no going back on the strike action. Some of the leaders opined that Government is using different tactics to weaken the ranks of labour.
Efforts to reach the JNC Chairman in the state, Comrade Coleman Okwara proved abortive as his phone numbers were not available as at the time of going to press.
