Eziama-Obaire Agog For Uche Nwosu Unity Cup

It was total excitement at the playing field of the Comprehensive Secondary School Eziama-Obaire, as the entire citizens trooped out en mass defying the rain to witness the kick-off of the maiden edition of Comrade Uche Nwosu Unity Football Competition on Sunday December 8.
The event which was witnessed by the Hon Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Comrade Kenneth Emelu and the Imo FA Chairman, Chief Amanze Uchegbulam who also is a CAF Committee member among other dignitaries saw Umuduru defeat their 2United counterpart 1 0 in the opening game of the championship.
Addressing the crowd, the donor who is the Honorable Commissioner for Lands and Urban Development expressed his pleasure over the large turn-out at the event especially the number of dignitaries and football technocrats that graced the occasion.
Hon Nwosu stated that he was motivated to institute the competition among the youths of Eziama-Obaire in other to gainfully engage them in a purposeful activity especially at this yuletide period as well as to hunt, identify, develop and expose the hidden talents abound in the Community he believes will become future leaders as well as bread winners in their various families.
He then promised that apart from the sports-kits earlier presented to the 10 teams that are taking part in the competition expected to come to its crescendo on January 3, the winner of the giant trophy will take home a total sum of N300, 000, while the second and third positions will get N200, 000 and N100, 000 each with various individual prizes like MVP, Best Goalkeeper, Best Defender Highest Goal Scorer and the Fair Play Team.
According to the LOC chairman Mr Ajawuike Kenneth, the competition continued on Monday December 9 with Ezealaobo taking on Umunwokwe while Umuakuma squares up against Ezemenaha today as Umunam tackles Ndimbara on Wednesday December 11.
The Opening ceremony was well attended by all the traditional rulers within the area including HRH Eze Julius Ifeanyichukwu Osuchukwu (Obaire of Eziama-Obaire). Others are, Hon Barr Prince Obinna Okwara (the Hon Member representing Nkwere State Constituency at the State House of Assembly), Mr Promise Nwachukwu (Heartland Team Manger), Coach Ramson Madu of Heartland fc, Coach Bob Acholonu, Coach Osigwe, Imo FA Techniacl Chairman and National Vice President (South-East) YSFON, Mr Ndubuisi Opara (Warrior)

Ikeoha Doles Out Another N.5m Sports-kits
To Okigwe-south Ward Leaders

All roads on Friday December 6 led to the palace home of Chief Emma Okewulonu (Ikeoha one of Obowo) in Avutu Autonomous Community, Obowo Local Government Area as Ikeoha hosted Okigwe-South Federal Constituency Ward leaders in the ongoing Ikeoha Unity Cup to say thank-you as well as give out over N500, 000 worth of sports wears.
Addressing the ward leaders and the LGA coordinators, Ikeoha first thanked God Almighty who made everything possible noting that his decision to sponsor the Ikeoha unity cup is to help empower the youths of Okigwe-South just like he has on several occasions helped non indigenes to further their footballing careers outside the shores of Nigeria adding that his greatest desire is to see youths of his Federal constituency realize their potentials as well as attain a greater height in life.
He however expressed his pleasure over the level of seriousness and quality of play on the side of the players and the Organizers pointing out that he was overwhelmed with the awesome reception given to him at the various opening ceremonies in Okenaloho, Umuezeala and Isinweke.
During the gathering, all the Ward leaders after being treated to a sumptuous meal received sporting track suits and cash sums for their transportations to their various villages.
Reacting to the kind gesture, Ehime-Mbano coordinator, Hon Orike who spoke on behalf of his LGA ward leaders said the contact they have had with Ikeoha has been a fruitful one stating that they will give him their total support if he decides to run for election come 2015 while Hon Walsh and Barr Arinze of Ihitte-Uboma and Obowo LGA’s chorused that the youths have seen and believed the humble nature of Ikeoha

Imo Youths Join 4,000 Nigerian U-17 Athletes For NYG In Abuja

About 120 athletes and Officials including the physically challenged ones are at the moment slugging it out with other youths from other participating states in Abuja for the maiden edition of the National Youth Games.
According to a release made available to Trumpeta sports desk, the Imo contingent comprises of 92 athletes and 32 officials with the state participating in 10 sporting events including, Badminton, Boxing, Powerlifting, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Track and Field, Weightlifting, Wrestling and Handball the only ball game.
In the opening ceremony which took place in Abuja on Saturday December 7, the Vice- President Namadi Smabo while declaring open the event said he was impressed with the large turnout of participants. This he said “was a demonstration of our commitment as a people to create a solid and sustainable plat form for all round youth development through sports.
Sambo who was represented by the Minister of sports and Chairman of the NSC Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi said the recent victory of Nigeria in the U-17 FIFA world cup was a confirmation of the great potentials that exist in our country.
