PRESENTS LIVE COW TO PARTICIPANTS AS FULFILLMENT OF HIS ANNUAL GIFT OF COW FOR SACRIFICE

 

 

Traditionalists and title holders drawn from diverse groups including the Nde Nze na Ozo Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom converged on the Ubramehi palatial Country home of the Head of Ozo title holders and the Ezeigwe-Elect of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom,Chief Nze Sunday N Ejesieme to commemorate their annual Orima festival which precedes the new yam festival with a month of spiritual exercises.

 

The Orima festival is an important festival which comes up as a month-long traditional lent period that ends with new yam festival activities in Egbuoma.Egbuoma people including members of the traditional institutions, title holders,Nde Omenala and Nde Nze na Ozo are those dutifully involved in this annual cultural ritual that holds a symbolic and unique place in the cultural and traditional lives of an average Egbuoma person.

 

It is remarkably a sacred and solemn period in which burials are forbidden in the Ancient Kingdom.Anyone who dies during this period is usually preserved till after the celebration and certain ritual of purification is done before such a person can be buried.It is commonly believed that any death that occurs within this sacred period is regarded as a bad omen.

 

This important cultural festival that holds annually has in the last 14 years attracted the attention of Nze Sunday Ejesieme,a USA based Nurse of Egbuoma extraction who decided to be hosting, funding and promoting it for the purposes of cultural revival and advancement of the rich heritage of the Egbuoma people.Nze Sunday Ejesieme,a philanthropist, Community leader, Cultural Icon and Ambassador who happens to be the Head of the Ozo title holders in Egbuoma and the current Igwe-Elect of Egbuoma Ancient Kingdom in the spirit of his love for his people and revival of their culture and tradition, hosts traditionalists annually in his Country home,presents big cow and provides everything needed to commemorate this annual event.

 

This year’s event was not an exception as participants gathered at Nze Sunny Ejesieme’s Country home in Ubaramehi Village to perform this annual festival amidst funfair, wining and dining, cultural displays, procession and dances.As usual he presented them with a gift of big live cow for sacrifices.They prayed for long life, good health, peace and progress of the Kingdom as they observe the sacred festival ahead of the Traditional New yam festival that climaxes it in a month time.There was excess joy and excitement as the participants were treated to a lavish of assorted sumptuous meals and choice drinks.
