Deacon Chike Okafor flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for Obowo, Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano federal constituency received an overwhelming reception and recognition from thousands of his constituents who joyfully defied the heavy down pour just to catch a glimpse of him and say welcome back home.
The former Imo Commissioner for finance Deacon, Okafor who recently was part of the delegation from Imo that accompanied Gov. Rochas Okorocha to UK made a brief stopover at Eke Ahiara junction Mbaise where over (5000) five thousand people from different walks of life thronged en-mass chanting solidarity songs declaring their support for him before they proceeded to his palatial country home in Obowo.
Another heavyweight politicians who was greatly received was speaker of Imo House of Assembly; Rt Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu who was also at the Chathan House, London to rally support for Governor Okorocha and APC.
Speaking to journalists on developments in the party, Deacon Okafor said he was happy the people of Imo State especially members of his constituency appreciate the little that have been done for them. APC he said represent change and has come to transform the country.
According to him, ‘I am an agent of positive change and part of the government of Gov Rochas Okorocha that has done very well in a short while in various sectors of the economy especially educational sector and infrastructural development. Going down memory lane he said. Three and half years ago the opposition party doubted the possibility of free and qualitative education but today Gov Okorocha has made it possible. “There is no promise he made to Imo people that he has not fulfilled to change our colour – over night”, the Obowo born politician said.
Okafor expressed pleasure over the confident bestowed on him promising to work diligently by ensuring he attracts effective representation that will reflect collective interest of his people.
A cross section of leaders and people of Obowo, Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano who spoke during the exercise disclosed that Deacon Okafor has been touching lives positively without compromise before his political involvement.
They confessed that most of them have benefited in his life touching programme, and promised him of their unalloyed support and massive vote in the forth coming general election.
