A new crisis has ensued between the Liaison Officers of the Rescue Mission and the Transition Committee Chairmen over the ownership and retain of campaign buses.
Trumpeta investigation has it that there is a cold war raging among the two groups over the retaining of Rescue Mission campaign buses used during the just concluded electioneering campaigns.
The story has it that the campaign buses were graciously assigned to the Liaison Officers for the purposes of Owelle Okorocha’s presidential campaigns nationwide. Shortly after the presidential outing, the Liaison Officers were also mandated to use the buses for the governor’s second term campaigns within the state.
This, Trumpeta gathered, they did until the time they were directed to loan out the buses to their various local government Transition Committee Chairmen for some specific electoral jobs.
According to reports available to this Newspaper, the Liaison Officers accordingly obliged to the request by releasing the buses accordingly with the belief that the Transition Committee Chairmen will accordingly return same to them after the “specific function”.
Weeks after the elections, some of the Transition Chairmen are yet to return the buses as earlier directed to the Liaison Officers. As at the time of this report, few of the Transition Committee Chairmen have complied with the directive with few others still reluctant to return the buses.
Trumpeta gathered that the Transition Committee Chairman of Ezinihitte Mbaise Local Government who also doubles as the Chairperson of the Transition Committee Chairmen, Mrs Onwumere is leading the onslaught. Information has it that apart from not having returned her vehicle accordingly, Mrs Onwumere is alleged to have poisoned the minds of some of her colleagues who would have ordinarily returned the buses to the Liaison Officers.
Investigation has it that the Transition Chairmen have perfected arrangements to keep the buses for fear of their possible dissolution from office. They reasoned that in event that they are dissolved in this second tenure of Governor Okorocha, that they will elope with the buses to the detriment of the Liaison Officers who have laboured with them.
Worse still is the fact that neither Governor Okorocha nor any government official has made any official statement on the matter which hitherto has pitched the Liaison Officers and the Transition Committee Chairmen.
