IHEDIOHA HONOURED IN LONDON BY IMO STATE ELDERS

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sir Emeka Ihedioha (KSC) has added gold to his lustrous political career inLondon. Chief Ihedioha was awarded a Gold Certificate by Imo State Union of Elders UK for his superlative performance in the House of Representatives and Services to his Aboh-Mbaise/Ngor-Okpala Federal Constituency.

In his speech, the Chairman of Imo state Unions of Elders Sir Adolph Umunnakwe Agbasonu said the Union is apolitical and only gives Award to people who have creditably distinguished themselves in their career like Sir Ihedioha did.

Responding, Chief Ihedioha said the Award came to him as a surprise. ‘This Award is in fact very dear to me because I did not solicit for it I am happy that my esteemed Imo fathers in the Diaspora are highly informed and have been following my activities quietly from the UK’.

He further told the Elders that he facilitated the contract for the construction of Isinweke – Onitcha Uboma road in Ihitte Uboma LGA, construction of the 133kva/33 Mega Power substation at Dikenafai in Ideato South LGA, the construction of Okpala – Igwurita, a road which is over 80% completed, the ongoing expansion work of Owerri–Elele road by Arab Contractors Ltd and the construction of the popular Mbaise Ring road (63 kilometres) which cuts across all the LGAs in Mbaise and some parts of Obowo LGA in Imo State. There is also the Jetty/Wharf that is nearing completion atImoRiver, Ngor-Okpala. He remarked that ‘the economic and strategic importance of Jetty/Wharf project cannot be over-emphasised as it will create over 500 jobs inImoStatewhen completed’.

Sir Ihedioha said he has also helped manyImoStateindigenes to obtain gainful employment in various Federal establishments in the country.

Some of the Elders who attended the event are: Eng. B.I.C. Ofonagoro (Secretary), Dr. Sir Nick Chikwe, Dr Cyril Anyanwu, Sir Robert Amadi and Dr Livinus Anyanwu and others. Invited guests includes among others; Nze Sympathy Nwosu, Chief Alloy Osuji, and Mr. Tagbo Nzekwe and Jeff Opara.
