The Interim Management Committee of the Imo Broadcasting Corporation IBC, led by Chief Orikeze Ajumbe, yesterday received a rough deal in the hands of the IBC Staff who locked the gate of the Establishment, refusing the Ajumbe led Committee entrance into IBC premises.
The workers who were led by their Leaders barricaded the entrance of IBC premises which houses Orient FM and Orient Television Stations.
They were expressing their grouse against the new management foisted on the Establishment by the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who is using Task Forces to run Imo State presently.
The old IBC Staff accused the Ajumbe Committee of being made up people who know nothing about broadcasting, yet are subduing the staff to various tests.
They said that since the committee assumed office the Television Station has gone off air, yet the committee has done nothing but busy harassing the staff, with threat of sacks hanging on their necks.
They threatened that Dr Ajumbe and his committee members should remain at the Hero’s Square office allocated to them by Okorocha, and stay away from IBC premises unless they want to dare the IBC staff.
The IBC staff told Trumpeta that nothing will make them allow Ajumbe and co inside IBC, as the gate of the Establishment will remain under lock and key until the Committee throws in their resignation letters and leave IBC alone.
The Staff said they will sionals, and lack the qualities to run the studio except being relations to those in power in the state now. not allow Ajumbe to carry out his major assignment, which they say is to sack the old staff and bring in his friends, relations and Government stooges who are not professionals, and lack the qualities to run the studio except being relations to those in power in the state now.
“What is their pedigree in Broadcasting except ownership of Recording Studios and Video Camera operators?” the staff asked.
Meanwhile, Ajumbe has made it clear that nobody will stop his Committee from carrying out the assignment given to it by the State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha.
He has denied that his Committee is sacking any staff, but only to train and retrain the old staff to current world standards.
