The leadership of Imo State Chapter of the Youth Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN), and Imo Youth Assembly (IYA), have resolved to organise a joint one week period of praying and fasting, to seek God’s intervention on the reckless attitude of Governor Rochas Okorocha towards the youths of the state.

Briefing newsmen on Tuesday at the CAN Secretariat, Egbu road, Owerri, the president of Imo Youth Assembly, Dr. Onumuo said that the prayer session would commence on Monday, August 27 and end on Sunday, September 2nd, 2012, with a thanksgiving church service at the Charismatic Renewal Mission, Owerri.

He affirmed that it was as a result of the high rate of insecurity and administrative recklessness of Gov. Rochas Okorocha led administration that prompted the two youth organizations to embark on the prayer session.

Dr. Onumuo expressed dismay on the spate of kidnapping, armed robbery, human Trafficking in the state, and advised all Imo Youths to be part of the programme.  He also wondered why the youths who contributed to the emergence of Governor Rochas Okorocha would be at the receiving end, adding that the first blunder the governor committed was the sack of the ten thousand jobs beneficiaries.  He however frowned at the rate the dreaded Islamists sect, Boko Haram, butcher Christians in the Northern part of the country adding that the situation would only be quelled by God; while urging the media to continue to educate and inform the people on its activities.
