AHEAD OF 2012 IMO LGA POLLS ISIEC To Delineate New Wards.

The much anticipated Local Government Election in Imo state is inching closer, following the resolve of Imo State Independent Electoral Commission (ISIEC) to revalidate all ISIEC Wards in the state and also create new ones.

Chairman of the Commission, Bar Teddy Akwari, told members of Conference of Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) who paid him a courtesy call in his office, yesterday, that said soon, the Commission will unveil new Wards and revalidate old ones. The ISIEC Chairman, commended all the members of CNPP for coming to consult with the commission. He advised that the visit should be on routine basis to enable both the commission and the parties rub minds so as to evolve sound political culture in the State.

Among those present at the meeting include: Hon Godfrey Ngozi Nwosu, Commissioner (1), Hon Jeofrey Ihentuge, Hon Uzoma Anosike, Barr Owete and Mrs Ibekwe Chinemerem, the PRO of the Commission.

CNPP also asked for the release of her yearly subvention. They appealed for a level playing ground for all the political parties inImoStatein any election that will be conducted by ISIEC.

Also reacting, the ISIEC chairman said he was yet to be officially informed of yearly subventions for the parties but assured that the commission will carry out all their activities in accordance with the law.

He assured that all parties will be consulted and will be carried along in the conduct of the coming LGA election.

He advised the parties to come together as a body to assist in good governance.

In his remarks, the Imo state chairman of APGA, Chief Okoroafor Anyanwu commended ISIEC for their transparency so far. He said that he has no doubt that with the zeal and commitment for Justice by Gov Okorocha, ISIEC will perform creditably in line with the rescue mission.

Mr Emmanuel Ihesiaba, the chairman of the Peoples Progressive Party (PPP) in his own remarks said that if the governor solicits the cooperation of CNPP, most of the present political crisis in the state will be resolved.
