Reasons have been offered why the Imo State government has made a U-turn in its resolve to allow workers go to work only three days a week.
Governor Rochas Okorocha during one of the public outings declared intention to return the three remaining days of the week as working days.
It would recalled that two years ago, Okorocha banished workers from going to work on Thursday and Fridays after attending Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The State Governor asked the workers to go to farm on Thursday and Friday.
Trumpeta gathered that the resolve to return the full working days of Imo workers came as a result of a parley the governor had with a category of top staffers of local government employees. Information reaching the newspaper has it that DAGs and HODs of LGAs met with the governor where they informed him of the need to return the remaining working days.
Sources have it that while the governor during the interactive session sought their stake about a named successor he intends to back up for 2019, the elite workers replied with demands which include the return of the remaining working days and other payments.
Others, the HODs and DAGs asked for are full payment of salaries and allowances, which the governor promised to comply.
