Feelers from the office of the chairman of the Imo State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Samuel Agunwa Ohiri have it that there is disquiet in the place over fears that he will be removed by the incoming administration.

It would be recalled that moments Okorocha took over as governor of the state in 2011, one of the major broadcast he made was the sack of Eze Cletus Ilomuanya as Eze Imo Council chairman. He was replaced by Eze Ohiri. Eight years after, Eze Ohiri is still on the saddle.

Trumpeta learnt that the uneasy calm around Eze Ohiri may not be unconnected to the fear of removal by the governor-elect, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha after swearing in on May 29, 2019.

This newspaper noticed that Eze Ohiri has been avoiding office and other functions expected of him even as unconfirmed reports have it that he is trying to make a reach out to the incoming governor to save his position.

What is said to be troubling Eze Ohiri and those around him remains the number of years he has spent in office and the controversy surrounding the manner he had chucked 5 years and stood for another tenure.

It was further gathered that the change of Okorocha’s political lineage in the office of the governor has offered aggrieved monarchs uncomfortable with manner Ohiri came into power, to run to the governor-elect not to allow the Obi of Orodo in Mbaitoli autonomous community continue to function in office as chairman of Ndi Eze. Ezes suspended and victimized by the Okorocha administration also want Ohiri out at the expiration of Okorocha’s tenure.

When our reporter called at the secretariat of Ndi Eze Imo in the state capital, no much activity was observed and few staff spotted at the complex were unwilling to speak on said fever.

What was said to have also triggered off the fear of removal was the reported burial of dogs at the entrance gates of the council office on Mbari Street, Ikenegbu area of Owerri.

There was a reported case of a burial of two dogs at the entrance two weeks ago. The discovery further joined to create more fear for Eze Ohiri that the hand of the clock is ticking towards his exit.
