.Appointees Got Back Dated To January
.Imo Modern Poultry Chairman Resigned
.Civil Servants Refuse To Cooperate
By Samuel Ibezim
Controversy has continued to trail the hurriedly arranged appointment of chairmen and Boards of parastatals in Imo State.
A week after the inauguration by the state governor represented by the secretary to the state government, Hon Mark Uchendu, it was discovered that the letter was backdated.
Instead of the 5th April date the Boards were inaugurated at the IICC, Owerri what was spotted on the appointment letters was January 24th 2019 date.
It would be recalled that during the heat period of the campaigns, Okorocha appointed Board chairmen and members of the government establishments.
The discovery of backdated dates is disturbing the new Board chairman and members who are worried that they came on board two months after appointment. There are fears that the chairman and Board members would be held responsible for any act that took place in government establishment before they were officially sworn-in.
Similarly, the government has suffered a setback as Chief Francis Ihechere, a Retired Assistant Commissioner of Police, whom the governor appointed as the board chairman of Imo Modern Poultry, has declined the offer.
In a letter made available toTrumpeta, Ihechere, who is said to have travelled outside the county, said that he declined the offer for personal reasons.
He thanked the governor for finding him worthy to be chairman of the board and promised to pray for him as his administration draws to an end.
Part of the letter reads:
“While I express my gratitude for considering me as chairman of Imo Modern Poultry Board in your very recent appointment, I wish to decline the appointment for very personal reasons”.
It further reads: “Do accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my esteemed considerations and prayers as you glide towards the end of your administration.
Meanwhile, some of the Board members are not having it rosy with the staff of the outfits they were suit to superdend”.
Trumpeta learnt that the workers are opposed to having the Board members around considering the short time remaining for the Okorocha administration to quit office.
