The new executive of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, is optimistic that the victory party of the new governor of the state, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha won’t last long.

According to the new state party chairman, Prince (Dr) Henry Okafor, the party is hopeful that the election petition tribunal shall graciously annul the election and order for fresh one based on constitutional disabilities inherent in the result announced by INEC.

Addressing newsmen in Owerri alongside members of the party Exco at the party secretariat on Egbu road, Owerri, Okafor opined that the Imo governorship race is not yet over as the matter has moved to the law courts over grey areas.

Okafor is of the view that the APGA candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume has a good case against the result that declared Ihedioha winner hence the tribunal was approached to adjudicate on the matter.

“APGA has not lost hope about the governorship election.

We are in court and we are hopeful about the outcome,” he added.

On the APGA’s role as one of the opposition parties, Okafor said that APGA will adopt the best practices in checking the activities of the PDP government of the day.

“While not trying to attack every issue that comes up, APGA shall engage in constructive critisms against any noticeable wrong policy. We shall not keep quiet and allow the system to be messed up before we react. Imo APGA has conscience and belief in morality”.

On what the party plans to do ahead for now until the outcome of the Tribunal, Dr Okafor said that a rejuvenation of the youths in the society and necessary empowerment will be their target.

Taking a swipe on the immediate past administration who made a mess of the youths through unbecoming acts, Okafor said that APGA will ensure a new beginning in the system where the youths shall be meaningfully engaged in various jobs.

Okafor used the opportunity to debunk division claim in APGA adding that only few elements are banding about claiming to have a faction.

“APGA is one in Imo and everywhere we just held our congresses supervised by INEC and security agencies. What anyone had was a meeting which does not amount to elective congress” he added.
