The Senator representing Imo East Senatorial Zone at the Red Chambers, Sen Onyewuchi Ezenwa on Tuesday rolled out his impressive and uncommon achievements in just 18 months of his stay at the Senate.
Speaking with selected Imo Newspaper Editors during a breakfast meeting in his Country home, Orji, Owerri North LGA, the former House of Reps Member for Owerri Federal Constituency said he hit the ground running as an old parliamentarian who delights in ensuring that his constituents, the people of South East and the Nation at Large gets the best of legislation.
He maintained that his legislative prowess enabled him to work hard on strategic and critical issues that can positively improve the economy of the people of the South East including making the Federal Government always respect the principles of the Federal Character as enshrined in the Constitution among several Motions and Bills geared towards enhancing the live of Nigerians.
Recalling why his numerous fans refer to him as ” Mr Empowerment “, he said; ” As a Senator and during my time in the House of Reps, i do not shortchange my constituents”.
“But I create enabling environment as well as empower them so they become self reliant which makes me happy”, the Senator asserted.
Expressing his desire to be remembered as that Legislator who served diligently after his time, Senator Ezenwa also disclosed his willingness and readiness to with the State Government if they show interest to ensure interest of Imolites and indeed the Igbos are secured.
He noted that the outstanding achievements recorded within 18 months of his stay at the Red Chambers is a clear sign and indication of his Legislative prowess adding that his empowerment programme cuts across party affiliation and is very evident for everyone to benefit from.
Some of the outstanding Motions, Bills, Projects and Empowerment programmes of Senator Ezenwa include;
Urgent need to revive the Palm Oil Industry in Nigeria,
Urgent need to end the menace of building collapse in Nigeria,
Need for the Federal Government to respect the principles of Federal Character as enshrined in the Nigerian Constitution, Motion on the exclusion of South East from the board of NCC, Bill for Older Persons (Rights and Privileges) bill 2019,
Money laundering (Prohibition Act) Amendment Bill 2019, Police Act Amendment Bill 2019 and the Child rights Act Amendment Bill 2020.
The projects are, ongoing construction of Obodo Ahiara-Obodo Ujichi – Akabo – Ogwuama link road in Ahiazu Mbaise LGA of Imo State, Construction and furnishing of 2 Classroom block and Teachers’ office at Amaimo Community Secondary School, Amaimo Ikeduru LGA. Construction of Youth Hall at Tetlow Road, Owerri Municipal LGA of Imo State, among many others scattered in all the 9 LGA that make up Imo East Senatorial District.
Sen Ezenwa has also in his empowerment activities impacted his constituents with the followings; Facilitation of CBN Business Support Loan for 380 business owners in Imo East Senatorial District. Facilitation of Covid-19 support grant for 100 women of Imo East Senatorial District. Massive recruitment of indigenes/residents of Owerri Zone into Federal Establishments and many others.
