Report reaching Imo Trumpeta has revealed that the coast is now clear for the substantive hearing of the petition instituted against Gov Rochas Okorocha’s led Imo government by the embattled beneficiaries of the Imo 10,000 job scheme that was executed by Gov Ikedi.  The Ohakim led Government.  The hearing will be coming up this month November between 11th and 29th at the National Industrial Court (NIC) Enugu presided over by Hon Justice Ibrahim.

With the said development, it implies that the state government has lost all her preliminary injunctions, objectives and motions restrain the Industrial Court from proceeding with the matter deposited/filed to/petition.

It will be recalled that the embattled 10,000 Imo youths had run to the Industrial Court to challenge their dismissal/sack through radio Announcement by the incumbent governor of Imo, Gov Okorocha, praying that they be recalled/reinstated, because they are legally, constitutionally recruited and employed through due process and civil service rules/guideline.  They also claimed financial damages.  The Government challenged the petition in a preliminary motion with the grounds that the governor has the right to sack them, that they have no right to sue the government and finally, that the Industrial Court has not jurisdiction over the case.  The motion was argued and the government lost, but went further to submit that the Court should stay all proceeding for them to appeal against the ruling on the preliminary motion.

According to Mr Tochi Okoro, a beneficiary and plaintiff, the Court decided to continue with proceeding after it was revealed that the Government has not in any way filed an appeal.  My Okechukwu Osunwa and Ugonna Omereonye of the embattled Imo youth disclosed to Imo Trumpeta, that the group has file an interlocutory injunction restraining the government from given out their position to their Kits and Kins which they alleged is going on in the civil service now, after claiming that Gov Ohakim gave them jobs out of politics, not vacancies.  “Now, how is playing politics and lying”, Osunwa regretted.
