Imo State Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has assured Imolites in the
diaspora of adequate security for those returning for the Christmas
celebrations. He made the pledge in London during a meeting with Imo
citizens in the British capital.
Gov. Okorocha said his administration has significantly reduced incidents of kidnapping and
armed robbery through a robust twin strategy of deterrence and
prevention of crimes. “We will continue to go after criminals and
homes of those who engage in these crimes will be pulled down and all
businesses built from the proceeds of crime will be forfeited”‘ he
said. He said the government has started the building of a Diaspora
village to make it easier for those living abroad to relocate and
contribute to the development of the state. He promised that all
projects designed to transform the state into a modern state will be
completed. Among those who received Gov. Okorocha include Imo born
British Olympic gold medalist Christie Okorogu.
