FMC Staff Welfare Association honours Speaker Uwajimogu, others

The Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Owerri Staff Welfare Association has conferred on the Distinguished Excellence in Leadership Award on the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Benjamin Uwajumogu.

 

The award was given during the end of year party/award presentation/grand finale of sports fiesta and send-forth party for retirees of the hospital held at the centre’s premises.

 

Speaking while conferring the award on the Speaker, the Medical Director of the FMC, Dr (Mrs) Angela Uwakem noted that the award was given in recognition of his selfless services towards the growth of the centre, stressing that his humanitarian gestures and countless philanthropic deeds single him out for the award.

 

Dr Uwakwem who thanked the State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha for giving FMC a land at Orlu Road Secretariat, maintained that it would spur the centre for more achievements, revealing that the services rendered by the centre are up to international standard.

 

In her address on the occasion, the Chairman, FMC Hospital Staff Welfare Association, Comrade Amarachi Amuzie pointed out that the event aims at improving inter and intra departmental relationship, thanking the management of the centre for its co-operation with the association.

 

Comr. Amuzie called on FMC management to assist in establishing a befitting staff canteen, co-operative shop and welfare bus to ameliorate the transportation problems of staffers and expressed regrets that the association lost ten of its members this year, praying God to remove the ugly trend.

 

In her remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Dr Mrs Nkechi Anyanwu extolled the Medical Director, Dr Uwakwem for upgrading services in the hospital.

 

Speaking to newsmen after receiving the award, the member representing Owerri Municipal Council in the Imo State House of Assembly, Dr Victor Mere who represented Rt. Hon Uwajumogu thanked the FMC management for honouring the Speaker describing the award as an honour well deserved.

 

Dr Mere disclosed that the Speaker has excelled tremendously in his executive functions, adding that the legislature synergizes with every other field of human endeavour including the medical field, emphasizing that the award is in the right direction coming from meaningful jurisdiction.
