Heartland Fc are King of Kings in Nigerian Football

Heartland football Club of Owerri, on Saturday January 13, proved that they are the king of kings in Nigerian football when they lifted the NPL’s Super 4.

 

The Naze Millionairs ensured that the super 4 trophy headed towards Owerri when two second half goals from John Owerie and Emeka Ogbugh secured a 2 – 0 win over Lobi Stars of Markurdi in their third game of the 5 day tournament.

 

The Super 4 Championship was put together by the Nigerian Premier League’s Interim Management Committee constituted by NFF to run the premier league affairs for one year. The Sunny Irabor Led Committee’s intention is to get all the 4 continental clubs in good shape before the commencement of the league.

 

Speaking to the press on hearing the out come of the championship, the Commissioner for Sports, Hon Kenneth Emelu expressed his joy and even challenged the NFF to a match between Heartland and the Super Eagles boasting that Heartland will beat them and that since the government of His Excellency, Chief Rochas Okorocha came to power it has been winning all the way.

 

The General Manager of the club explained that his lards victory in Kano goes a long way to show the amount of work his management and his technical crews have been able to achieve in the past few years.

 

He went further to also reveal that his administration has always focused on getting the best of players around especially the young ones who can carry the club to the future target.

 

Mr Fan who was full of joy over the news that filtered in from Knao said his management will continue to give opportunities to young and talented players like Emeka Ogbugh, Joy Akwuoka and the young Goal-keeper graduated from the youth team. He also revealed that he has his eyes on three of the under 17 National team players for this season.

 

Reacting to the victory, a former handler of the team, Coach Kelechi Emetole (Caterpillar) commended the efforts of the team for emerging champions at the super four tournament but was quick to urge the government not to relent in ensuring that entitlements and needs of the players and the management team is provided.
