Armed mobile policemen, Tuesday, stormed the office of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), along Egbu road, Owerri.

No reason was given for the action, but a source in the party told Imo Trumpeta yesterday that some mobile policemen allegedly led by one Chief Chukwukere stormed the office.

The office receptionist was said to have been chased away, while keys and padlocks of the office were changed.

The action took place few hours after the State Interim Chairman, Tony Mgbeahuruike and the Deputy National Chairman briefed journalists on recent developments in the party.

Uche had alleged that his dear life and that of Mgehauruike had been threatened severally since Governor Rochas Okorocha joined the All Progressive Congress (APC)

Unveiling the position of APGA during his interaction with newsmen, Chief Uche stated that the party intends to foreclose plans on the return of the governor to the party if he (Okorocha) does not retrace his steps and return to their fold soonest.

Uche maintained that he has no personal grudges against the Imo State governor over his choice of political party, but advised him (Okorocha) not to be ashamed to come back to APGA.

He said the amalgam of political parties that led to the emergence of APC does not in anyway meet the political expectations of Igbos, describing the APC as the political obituary of Igbos. He described APGA as more than a political party, stating that no one can use the Igbos bait for political merchandising.

Uche said soon the party’s National working Committee (NWC) will hold, where for reaching measures will be taken to sanitize and restructure the party and ensure it remains formidable not only in the south east but across the nation.

He stated that he has been receiving death threats through text messages since the party state executive in the state led by prince marshal Okoroafor Anyanwu was sacked. He maintained that Chief Tony Mgbeachuruike is now the interim state Chairman of the party in the Imo state.

In his speech, the interim Imo APGA Chairman, Chief Tony Mgbeahuruike said there is no faction in APGA in the state, stressing that the party remains formidable.

He alleged threats to his life by the ousted chairman of the party, advising him to tow the path of civility in politicking.
